Note to self #60: That little itch should be telling you something.
Looks like clover honey is out, at least from Montana. And I bought $22 worth of this stuff.
The Last Legends of Earth, A.A. Attanasio, Bantam:
I first read this over 10 years ago. I think. I thought I'd written a journal entry about it, but it seems not. It was quite of a piece, in my mind, at the time, with Bruce Sterling's Schismatrix and Phyllis Eisenstein's The Crystal Palace, which I did write about. It was of a piece with those because I could not figure out what the point of the story was supposed to be. The author's afterword made it very clear that it did have a very deliberate point, and I still didn't understand it.
I am not going to claim that I understand it now, but I'm surprised that after having read it already and then forcing myself to read and think a little about the preceding novels in the series, it's more enjoyable the second time through. Not hugely more enjoyable, but I'm not getting irritated every dozen pages because the story isn't leading where I expect.
And now, a cat playing a theremin.
