This morning I managed to get up in time to go to the monthly hazardous waste festival at the Sunnyvale recycling centre, unloading my lava lamp and some old bicycle oil, then went straight on from there to the farmer's market where among other things I got 2 pomegranates, which should be interesting to try out.

Well, pomegranates are indeed interesting. Having only seen them well into the process of being eaten, I had formed the impression of a few red seeds buried in a dense matrix of whitish pulp. I was thinking that the seeds would have to be totally amazing to be worth picking out of all that. In fact, the fruit is more like a few walls of pulp surrounding and intersecting a solid mass of seeds. They're not totally amazing, but they're pretty good.

In other news, I mopped the bathroom, woohoo! I took a swing at swabbing down the shower curtain, but realized pretty quickly that holding it in one hand and swabbing with the other so as not to bring the whole works crashing down is just too much of a pain. So I'm going to assume it's machine-washable, and if machine-washing turns out to destroy it, well, I'll get a new one. I'm pretty sure it'll be OK, though.
