That was Wednesday. Today, while I was out dropping my bicycle off at the shop, someone wrote "YOU rock" on my whiteboard. I suppose I react badly to praise in person.
The aforesaid bicycle needs work pretty badly. The chain has finally gone from something that the bike shop people warned me may cause trouble to something that does cause trouble. I had some embarrassing and potentially dangerous incidents until I learned not to crank too hard off the line at intersections. The freewheel... the customer beside me was surprised that there even was a failure mode that causes the pedals to rotate forward slowly by themselves when the bicycle is in motion. But then, most people aren't idiot commuters like me.
In the meantime, on Tuesday night I went home at a reasonable hour, made dinner, brushed my teeth, and went to bed at a reasonable hour, and then I went outside and everything was all burnt, not burnt black but sort of like really overdone barbecue. That was good for an hour with the lights on this morning. Then someone at work said I'd received a shipment of blood, and handed me a glass of the stuff. Fortunately by then it was time to get up.
I blame undercooked gai choy. Seriously, I should have cut it into much smaller pieces.
